Gallery installation of artwork titled Roots with a wall painting of poetry in typewriter font hand painted

“Branches reach. Roots choose. Grounding oneself is not merely stability. It is survival. Unseen systems, subterranean instincts. Digging down for nutrients. When the ground slips aways, roots expose themselves. The value of negative space. A network supporting itself and leaving room for growth. Branches are aspirational, reaching for sunlight and encouragement. Roots, in time, form structures of their own. A sheet for wild things, needing rest.”

- Poem by Sean Owens (commissioned as a response to the artwork Roots)
